Cheers for Chamber Music Festival teamwork – World Class Music packing a community punch.

The sellout success of Albury’s recent inaugural  chamber music festival speaks highly of the community imagination and support made it happen.

Offering the region’s best in the partnership of Cofield’s wines at each event, the commitment of local music through Touchstone Pianos and Yamaha, the support of Albury City and the vision of Patrons and the Arts community enabled the First concert to be held at MAMA within the soaring acoustic of the Art gallery at the heart of the City’s cultural precinct. The other concerts in St Matthew’s and the ballroom of Adamshurst featured both artists of international standing and the passport for local youth to be launched into the world of classical music. The Logo designed by Leon Walsh featured in promotional material printed thanks to Stean Nicholls and splashed vividly across the Facebook pages of international artists and audiences.

Inspiration from past music makers was honoured in the concert dedicated to local musical identity Margaret Kennedy with Opera singer Sally Anne  Russell singing one of Margaret’s favourite arias.

Regent cinemas also stepped up to the musical mark in sponsorship with other organisations and individuals, the Library Museum chipped in with a ‘Melodies and Memories’ exhibition of musical Albury and Professor Geoffrey Blainey joined emerging musical stars with the pipes and drums of the Scots School at the Festival Service at St Matthews.

With an avalanche of interest we are saving the date 17th to the 19th of November 2017 for a Albury Chamber Music Festival and a series of festival events to be announced.

A special thanks to journalists, broadcasters, photographers, artists, committee, supporters and friends of fine music working together to put the border region on the cultural and musical map and making Albury Chamber Music Festival a destination event.

The Venerable Peter MacLeod-Miller
Archdeacon of Albury and the Hume
